The Calypso Hotel is 500 metres from the long sandy beach in Gouves and two thirds of a mile from Gouves newest attraction, the Cretaquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the Eastern Mediterranean and one of the best in Europe. There is regular bus service covering Gouves and the surrounding area with a bus stop just 400 metres from the hotel. The air-conditioned buses to Heraklion, Hersonissos, Malia and Eastern Crete leave roughly every 15 minutes.
